Get ready to birth your destiny
Brains and Beauty is a multifaceted platform of building, growing, and leading the next generation of diverse change agents by providing mentorship for success.
Brains and Beauty started under the umbrella of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte cheerleading organization, Cheer Nation, as a mentoring organization for minority women. The purpose of this program was to provide a positive influence and support system for Black women.
Many young Black women complimented other successful Black women and doubted their own abilities. Other Black women transferred to a historically black college or university (HBCU) because they were not confident that their skills would or even could be appreciated/accepted at a predominately white institution (PWI). The goal of Brains and Beauty was to encourage minority women to take advantage of resources provided within the institution, embrace their own knowledge and leadership, develop personally and professionally, as well as build a network of support.
